Uddiyana Bandha

Baya Kumbhaka

After exhalation all of the air is expelled from the lungs. The lower abdomen and diaphragm are then drawn upwards in a vacuum. The muscles from the sacrum to the ribs are contracted. The rib cage is raised and a little space is made around the heart.

The muscles in the front of the neck are also drawn inward causing a lock called Jalandhara Bandha.
